Now that the first deadline for applications to the pilot Touring Fund for Theatre and Dance has passed, we would like to provide a short update on progress.
We have received 53 applications to the first deadline of the fund, requesting a total of £4.9m.
As set out in the published guidance, these applications are currently being assessed by our Specialist Staff and by a panel of independent experts. We’d like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has applied for funding and to join the assessment panel. Again, this serves to underline the depth of quality and ambition across Scotland’s theatre and dance sector.
Decisions will be announced week commencing 17 December, and this announcement will also include details of the decision making panel.
This fund will open again for a second round of applications on 5 February 2019, with a deadline of 30 April 2019. We are continuing to iterate and adapt the process based on feedback received during this pilot, to ensure it meets the needs of the sector. We will therefore be reviewing the application guidance in time for this next round.
As a reminder, the total budget for these first two rounds is £2m. We also plan to announce further details of the 2020/21 fund and application timescales in early 2019.
