As the winter chill embraces Scotland, the Youth Music Initiative continues to foster high-quality music-making opportunities, casting a warm and melodic glow across the country. Programmes like The Scottish Government's Youth Music Initiative, the key funding channel for youth music projects in Scotland, have been transformative in ensuring children across the country have access to the benefits of music making.

Amidst this seasonal backdrop, the 21st MG ALBA Scots Trad Music Awards winners shine brightly, weaving their talents into the fabric of Scotland's musical heritage. The celebratory ceremony took place this year at Dundee’s Caird Hall.

In a celebration of talent and tradition, the accolade for Music Tutor of the Year, sponsored by the Youth Music Initiative, was awarded to the deserving Domhnall Bàn MacDonald.

Adding to the festive Youth Music cheer, the Community Project of the Year, sponsored by Traditional Arts and Culture Scotland, was granted to the YMI-supported Fèis Rois Ceilidh Trail. Recognized for its unwavering commitment to supporting young musicians in the traditional music scene.
