About the Programme

Creative Scotland administers the Scottish Government’s Youth Music Initiative (YMI) programme which in 2018-19 will:

  • Create access to high-quality music-making opportunities for young people aged 0-25 years, particularly for those that would not normally have the chance to participate.
  • Enable young people to achieve their potential in or through music making.
  • Support the development of the youth music sector for the benefit of young people.

The 2018-19 YMI Annual Plan (PDF) sets out our plans for the programme including a programme of work, funding and development priorities, budgets and how we will report on impact.

The recent 2016-17 YMI Impact Report sets out the impact YMI is having for young people, communities and the youth music sector.
