Crowdfunding mentoring and match-funding programme launched

Published: 22 May 2018

Today, Creative Scotland in partnership with Paved With Gold has launched a pilot mentoring and match-funding scheme for those looking to embark on a crowdfunding campaign, Crowdfunding Creativity. The programme is open to individuals, groups and creative businesses.

Up to seven projects will benefit from a programme of support including workshops and one-to-one sessions that complement key milestones through their project. In addition, they’ll be able to access up to 25% match-funding from Creative Scotland for their crowdfunding campaign.

This gives people the chance to develop their skills and grow their audience while having the opportunity to access partnership funding- Clive Gillman, Director of Creative Industries

The programme aims to provide people who are working in the creative industries in Scotland with the skills and knowledge to develop their own successful crowdfunding campaigns.

Over the course of the programme those selected to take part will learn how to develop their crowdfunding campaign and gain key skills to help them support their creative practice.

Clive Gillman, Director of Creative Industries at Creative Scotland said: “Crowdfunding Creativity is an exciting new strand to our Creative Industries Strategy which aims to develop new models to grow sustainable creative businesses. It is designed to give people the chance to develop their skills and grow their audience while having the opportunity to access partnership funding from Creative Scotland. We believe it will help creative businesses in Scotland to diversify their income streams through partnering with their supporters and audiences to develop new work.”

Today’s announcement coincides with the launch of a report by Paved With Gold entitled The Next Generation of Creative Crowdfunding.

More information on the programme can be found at www.creativescotland.com/crowdfunding - the deadline for applications is 2 July 2018.
