Dance and Older People - Evaluation Project Report and Film

Dance-and-oOlderPeople

During 2010 to 2012 Creative Scotland commissioned a pilot project to establish new programmes of work that engaged older people. Three projects were supported over the two year period in Edinburgh, West Lothian and Glasgow.

The three pilot projects were:

  1. Golden – a weekly dance class for over 60’s at Dance Base, Scotland’s National Centre for Dance in Edinburgh.
  2. Generation Dance – a weekly dance class for over 60’s based a Howden Park Centre, run by West Lothian Council Community Arts in partnership with Generation Arts Association.
  3. Still Dancing – a performance focused group for the over 60’s run by Dance House in Glasgow.

In order to assess the impact of the pilot projects and highlight the experiences of those who took part, an evaluation team comprising of Lucy Mason (arts consultant and producer), Nicholas Bone (theatre and film producer) and Kevin Cameron (filmmaker) was commissioned to produce a detailed project report and accompanying short film.
