Curated Place has launched a new, national training programme to support innovation and growth for arts and culture organisations across Scotland. Backed by Creative Scotland, the Cultural Business Development Programme (CBDP) is now open for applications.

Launched on 10 June, the training programme is a free, accessible, national training programme tailored to the unique needs and context of Scotland's arts and culture sector.

The first training cohorts will start in September 2025, with a second round starting in January 2026.

Six cohorts, with up to 15 participants each, will be engaged in the programme. Delivered through a mix of face to face and online sessions, combining in-person training in Aberdeen, Edinburgh or Glasgow with weekly expert-led online workshops delivered via zoom, the 12 session, sequential programme is led by Curated Place’s team of tutors and supported by a consortium of national and international industry experts.

The programme supports participants to:

  • develop their value proposition
  • nurture positive change
  • manage risks
  •  drive new revenue streams

Full details, including eligibility, how to apply and the training dates are available on the CBDP webpage: www.creativeproducertraining.com/cbdp-2025.

This round of applications will close on Tuesday 15 July 2025. Another round of recruitment will take place in the Autumn for the training cohorts beginning in January 2026.

Alison Brodie, Creative Producer of Curated Place said: “We’re excited to launch this new programme for the sector. The mix of face to face and online teaching, alongside the support from Creative Scotland, makes the programme accessible to participants across the country. Our previous professional development programmes have helped participants to secure over

£3m for their projects and businesses, and created a network across 18 countries. The Scottish cohorts will join a growing international community.”

Morgan Petrie, Creative Industries Manager of Creative Scotland said: “This programme will empower cultural organisations to demonstrate their impact in compelling ways, highlighting their vital role in economic, social, and cultural development. Through expert guidance, collaborative learning, and a supportive network of peers, leaders will gain the tools and inspiration to drive innovation and ensure long-term sustainability. It's not just about recognising value—it's about amplifying it.”
