Young Scots are invited to apply for enhanced new funding to develop their creative passions and talents.
11 to 25 year olds aspiring to careers in the creative industries can apply for grants across all artforms of up to £1,000 through the Nurturing Talent Fund.
Advocating for youth empowerment and progression in the arts, the Fund has been developed by young people for young people through the National Youth Arts Advisory Group (NYAAG) in partnership with Creative Scotland including Screen Scotland, and Young Scot.
Throughout 2019-2020, a total of £50,000 will be available across three funding rounds.

Creative Scotland’s Sarah Mcadam explained: “This vital financial support can really help young people showing passion and enthusiasm to develop skills, talents and ambitions in their chosen art form. With Screen Scotland contributing an additional £10,000 to this year’s Fund for film related projects, we’re excited to be able to enhance the support available for young people to bring creative ideas to life”.
NYAAG member Leon McNair explained: “Finance should never be a barrier when it comes to participating in the arts and helping to remove this barrier for young people is exactly what is most rewarding about working with NYAAG”.
In 2018/19, £25,000 was awarded to support 39 projects across the arts, including filmmaking, poetry publishing, photography and demo recording. Further information about previous recipients can be found in our 2018 Nurturing Talent Fund news story.
Fellow NYAAG member, Elliot Shaw, added: “As a new member of NYAAG I am already impressed at how widespread the program is and the variety of applications it receives. The inclusivity of the program is to be celebrated as it allows youth from all backgrounds to apply for funding to further their creative projects”.
