RESONATE music industry event announce full line up for 2018

RESONATE, the event for music industry professionals, musicians, students and aspiring artists alike, has announced its full line-up for 2018 with exciting workshops, masterclasses, panels and drop-in events taking place, all with the aim of encouraging a more collaborative Scottish music industry.

Returning to BAaD (Barras Art and Design) in Glasgow’s East End on 15th November 2018, RESONATE is set to be a day packed with insightful commentary from music industry professionals whilst providing aspiring musicians and professionals the chance to learn from each other and bring together the best of Scotland’s thriving music scene.

Voted one of the top 10 influential women in music by BBC’s Power Hour, alongside Beyoncé and Taylor Swift, Maggie Crowe will kick off RESONATE 2018 as the Opening Keynote Speaker. Director of Events and Charities at the British Phonographic Industry, Maggie has worked in the industry for over 30 years and is sure to provide countless invaluable insights and advice in her keynote speech. Having worked at the BPI since 1986, Maggie worked her way up and now runs BPI events including the BRIT Awards and Mercury Prize – two of the biggest music events in the world, ensuring her Opening Keynote speech will be truly unmissable.

Workshops for 2018 include; ‘BPI Workshop – International Trade & Music Export Growth Scheme’, ‘The A&R Sessions National Tour’, ‘Crowdfunding Workshop - Pledge Luke Arthur with Case Study (Emme Woods)’, ‘Surviving in the Music Industry - Help Musicians Scotland’ and ‘International Development - The World Is Your Stage’. Topics include how the BPI Music Export Growth Scheme which runs grants from £5000 to £50,000 can help independent music companies, how to crowdfund as a musician plus, an always relevant topic in today’s creative industry, Help Musicians Scotland will lead a discussion on starting out in music, mental health and self-care.

RESONATE will also be running ‘Drop Ins’ in a speed-dating style where delegates can stop in for a chat with some of the best creative minds in the business. The full Drop In line-up includes; ‘Meet the Media’ featuring journalists from STV News, The Skinny and Tenement TV, ‘Building Your Brand’ featuring photographers, artist management and PR specialists, ‘Meet the Funders’ presenting representatives from Creative Scotland, PRS Foundation and BPI, and ‘Meet the Creative Community’ where Musicians Against Homelessness, Creative Edinburgh and The Sound Lab will all offer their advice and expertise to aspiring creatives.

The event will also be running Tech Hubs on a variety of topics and challenges facing musicians today, whether that is the cost of recording or accessibility in music. The full Tech Hub line-up is; ‘SAE Institute - How to Record On A Budget’, ‘SAE Institute - EMP (Electronic Music Production)’, ‘SoundSense - Accessibility + Live Mixdown’, ‘The Songwriting Workshop’, and ‘GMSN: Controlling Energy Levels with a Modular Synth’.

Following a phenomenal inaugural event in 2017, ​RESONATE will continue to bring the most important issues in the music industry into the open for discussion, proving to be an essential fountain of knowledge for professionals and aspiring musicians alike last year. 2018’s already -announced panellist line-up includes; ​ ‘Benefitting from Music Conferences’​, ​ ‘Future of the Music Industries​’, ‘What You Syncing 2.0’​, ​ ‘Scotland And Emerging Markets’​and ​‘A&R: Get Picked Up’​.
