This year, we’re celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Youth Music Initiative: a music education programme funded by the Scottish Government that puts music at the heart of children and young people’s lives and learning.
As part of our celebrations, we hosted a special industry event on in March 2023 to bring the Youth Music sector together and celebrate #YMusicMatters.

Taking place at Johnstone Town Hall, it featured a range of guest speakers who shared their stories and discussed the national picture of music education in Scotland.
We also welcomed our guests to experience our breakout spaces where they could Come and Watch young performers, Come and Hear from inspiring projects and Come and Try cutting-edge equipment.

In addition, we invited two artists to illustrate the event live, capturing some of conversations, stories and reflections that took place throughout the day.
