Vanessa heads up the Dance team, which offers guidance to individuals and organisations seeking funding for dance activity and productions, has oversight of related funding decisions, and responsibility for developing relationships and improving conditions for the sector in Scotland. Vanessa is currently working with colleagues on the Touring Fund for Theatre and Dance, Momentum, Made in Scotland and IETM.
Vanessa’s career has spanned dance, theatre and visual arts, following her degree in Fine Art at the University of Dundee and a Masters in Arts, Festival and Cultural Management at Queen Margaret University. She’s worked in local and international festival contexts, and spent two years working for cultural consultants Bonnar Keenlyside before joining Festivals Edinburgh to support the delivery of Momentum - Edinburgh Festivals’ International Delegate Programme in 2015-17.
She joined Creative Scotland in 2018 as Interdisciplinary Performance Officer and has worked closely with Scotland’s independent dance and live art sector, in particular with artists and organisations who combine art forms in performance.
