Areas of responsibility

Kenneth leads on all aspects of communications and external relations. This includes responsibility for Creative Scotland's websites and digital communications; media relations and PR; marketing; events; internal communications; Government and parliamentary relations; Freedom of Information; and all areas of external engagement including our enquiries service. He is also responsible for Creative Scotland's Gaelic language plan and Environment policy.

Background and experience

Kenneth has been Director of Communications at Creative Scotland since joining the organisation in August 2011.

In February 2019, Kenneth took up an 18-month secondment to the Scottish Government as Head of Communications, leading a team of 150 communications professionals to deliver an effective Communications service for Ministers and the Civil Service across all areas of policy. Before joining Creative Scotland, Kenneth was Head of Communications at Scottish Natural Heritage and has also worked in the private sector with companies such as Glenmorangie and Standard Life, and as a partner in a communications agency.

He is currently Trustee and Co-Chair of WHALE Arts, the community led arts charity and social enterprise in Wester Hailes in Edinburgh, and has previously been a Board member at Eden Court Theatre in Inverness. Kenneth has a lifelong interest in arts and culture, particularly music, literature and visual art and is particularly interested in improving access to arts and culture for people from all parts of society.
