We are looking for an officer to work on the Youth Music Initiative (YMI). You will lead on the delivery of the YMI Access to Music Making and Strengthening Youth Music funds, working in close partnership with organisations and individuals. The role will involve assessing and making recommendations on a range of funding applications and undertaking development work on the YMI and other Creative Learning and Young People (CLYP) programmes.
You will act as contact for YMI activity, providing advice and guidance to organisations and individuals and supporting the delivery of a range of funded projects. As well as leading on various time-limited projects and events to improve the impact of the YMI and other CLYP programmes, you will also contribute to the wider work of the YMI, CLYP and Music teams and a range of advisory and steering group meetings, both internally and externally.
In the light of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Creative Scotland has been prioritising the delivery of an emergency funding package announced by the First Minister on 28 August, which included £31.5m in emergency support for culture, which we were tasked with delivering as quickly and efficiently as possible. This incorporated a £3m Youth Arts Fund aligned to YMI. This ongoing emergency support for the sector, and the ensuing recovery work, will remain a focus of Creative Scotland for the medium to longer term.
Our ideal candidate will have a successful track record of project management and working with arts organisations. You will have demonstrable experience in music education and/or music, youth arts and creative learning. You will also be able to demonstrate experience in carrying out detailed assessments of proposals and producing clear reports and recommendations.
Experience and understanding of the arts in Scotland, combined with strong interpersonal skills, is essential. Experience of managing evaluation and monitoring processes is desirable, but not essential.
