Strategy Update and Funding Review - Conversation Events

We would like to say a huge thank you to all of you who attended, and contributed to, the recent Public Conversation Events on Creative Scotland’s future funding approach. We would also like to say thank you to all of you who signed up to the Public Conversation Events, but were unable to attend.

Over the last three months, from Shetland to Dumfries, and through our online conversation, we have heard from individuals and organisations across Scotland all sharing with us a range of perspectives on how we can continue to develop Scotland’s creativity.

These views and contributions will be crucial in helping guide the next steps in Creative Scotland’s funding approach.

The events also provided a great opportunity for our staff to develop existing and new relationships with those who were able to attend, and we are grateful to you for making the time to be part of this.

Some Key Statistics

The work has engaged many people and you have generously provided views, perspectives and suggested priorities:

  • 317 participants attended and contributed at the Public Conversation Events
  • 70 contributions through the Online Conversation
  • 15 locations in Scotland visited, from Shetland to Dumfries
  • Thousands of contributions and ideas articulated and put forward
  • 2536 views on prioritisation through ‘red dot’ voting
  • 35 staff from Creative Scotland attended and helped facilitate the events

We also captured social media feedback and reactions via the hashtag #FundingCreativity.

What We Are Doing Now

We are now analysing all the information received through the public and online conversations - combined with the research conducted prior to the conversations – and are establishing key themes from that analysis. We will be communicating those to you as soon as we can and thereafter testing potential ideas on ways forward in the coming months.

Timeline for Delivery

The current timeline for delivery is:

  • August 2019 – Creative Scotland analysing data received from the Public Conversation Events and Online conversation
  • Autumn 2019 – Summary of key themes created and published.
  • Autumn/Winter 2019 – Testing ideas on ways forward.
  • Early 2020 – Conclusion and communication on ways forward.

As we move through the stages of the Funding Review, we will continue to update and engage you on progress.
