Internationale Tanzmesse NRW is the largest international professional gathering for contemporary dance, taking place 31 August - 3 September in Dusseldorf, Germany.
Creative Scotland is working in partnership with The Work Room to co-ordinate Scotland’s presence at Tanzmesse 2022. Our presence gives Scotland’s contemporary dance sector a profile at one of the industry’s most important international gatherings.

Delegates were selected through a process led by The Work Room working in partnership with Creative Scotland, to support independent artists and choreographers to attend for the first time. Tanzmesse offers them a significant opportunity to gain wide exposure to international markets, understand their own work in an international context, explore the values of the global dance community in relation to current social, economic and environmental issues and build connections with key industry professionals and artistic peers worldwide.
Through our presence, alongside our delegates, we are profiling a selection of our other pioneering and internationally acclaimed artists and companies. We are also proud to highlight the Scottish organisations who develop international relationships and support artists to create and deliver their best work, as well as those who offer audiences or participants the opportunity to discover world class dance.
Laura Fisher will be pitching her work Forged (in the tender heat of your embrace), developed through an Unlimited commission, as part of the International Tanzmesse programme.
The Scottish presence at Tanzmesse 2022 also includes representatives from leading organisations Scottish Dance Theatre, Dance Base, Tramway, Dance North and choreographers Rob Heaslip and Emma Jayne Park.
