Update on Open Funding for Organisations

Published: 12 Dec 2022

As part of our ongoing work to reshape our funding approach, Creative Scotland will be launching two funds on 15 February 2023.

These are:

  • a refreshed National Lottery Open Fund for Organisations, and
  • a new time-limited National Lottery Extended Programme Fund.

Both funds are designed for organisations that are not currently in receipt of Regular Funding.

The refreshed National Lottery Open Fund for Organisations will offer funding of between £5,000 and £100,000 for projects or programmes of activity lasting up to 18 months in length. Once the fund opens, applications can be made at any time, with no deadlines.

The National Lottery Extended Programme Fund will offer funding of between £100,000 and £200,000 for programmes of publicly available creative activity lasting between 18 and 24 months.

Once the fund opens, applications can be made at any time, with no deadlines, until the fund closes in November 2023. The timescales associated with this fund fit with the planned implementation of our new approach to Multi-Year Funding, which we aim to have in place from April 2025, as set out in our most recent update in November. Application for both funds will be online.

To assist with the transition to these new funds, our existing Open Fund for Organisations will close to applications at 5pm on 8 February 2023, with the new funds opening at 2pm on 15 February 2023.

We will also publish full guidance for the new funds on 15 February and we will be running a series of live online Q&A support sessions during February and March for organisations to find out more about the new funds.

Look out for further updates across our channels. In the meantime, please contact our Enquiries Service with any questions.
