Creative Scotland is working in partnership with leadership development organisation Common Purpose, to offer leadership skills development opportunities for emerging and senior leaders   working in the arts and creative industries in Scotland.

Thanks to National Lottery players, a total of five fully funded places are available on two Common Purpose programmes taking place in Spring 2021.

The programmes are as follows:

Common Purpose Emerging Leaders (two places available)

  • Beginning 4 March 2021
  • For leaders who are taking on more responsibility within their role, are leading people and teams through challenging times, and are looking to discover how they can have a wider impact
  • An online learning course delivered over eight weeks
  • Topics covered include personal agility and team leadership

Common Purpose Senior Leaders (three places available)

  • Beginning 29 April 2021
  • For leaders who collaborate with increasingly diverse stakeholders, who need to adapt to a changing landscape and who wish to create positive and lasting change in their organisation or in society
  • Delivered over 12 weeks of interactive online learning (around 10 hours a month)
  • Topics covered include personal agility, leading people and transforming systems

Creative Scotland is particularly keen to support applications from leaders from ethnic minority backgrounds and Disabled leaders, who are currently underrepresented in leadership positions in the cultural sector.

Applicants must live and work in Scotland within a cultural discipline supported by Creative Scotland.

Both programmes will include engagement with experienced facilitators and global leadership modules with an international cohort.

Further information and application forms can be accessed on the Common Purpose website. The deadline for applications is 5pm on Friday 22 January.

Common Purpose has 30 years of experience in delivering leadership training for organisations and individuals and has over 90,000 alumni.
A Common Purpose spokesperson said: “Now, more than ever, we believe we need to support and develop leaders who can cross boundaries and solve complex problems. We’re sure that these programmes can help leaders in the Creative Industries develop the skills they need at one of the most challenging, uncertain and pivotal points in their careers.”
