UK Government announces £1.57bn cultural, arts and heritage investment

Published: 06 Jul 2020

Creative Scotland welcomes today’s UK Government announcement of £1.57bn investment to protect UK cultural, arts and heritage institutions, including £97m for Scotland.

This follows the announcement on Friday of £10m support from the Scottish Government for performing arts venues.

We will work closely with the Scottish Government to establish how this new funding will be accessed and will share more details as they become available.

On the announcement, Iain Munro, Chief Executive of Creative Scotland said:

“The negative impact of Covid-19 on the culture sector in Scotland has been hugely significant and recovery will be challenging. This new funding from the UK Government, following that announced last week by the Scottish Government, is extremely welcome news. We look forward to hearing more on the detail of how this funding will help sustain the future for Scotland’s culture and creativity which contribute so much to all our lives in terms of wellbeing and prosperity.”
