Panel members sought for new round of Touring Theatre and Dance Fund

Published: 09 Aug 2019

Creative Scotland is seeking qualified individuals to join the decision panel for next round of the Touring Fund for Theatre and Dance.

The fund supports the touring of the theatre and dance, enhancing opportunities for artists, producers and companies to work more collaboratively with venues and festivals to grow audiences and provide greater access to high quality work across Scotland.

Launched in August 2018, the fund has enabled over 20 companies to present a mix of award winning, new and restaged dance, circus, theatre and spoken word performances for children, young people, adults and families at venues and festivals across Scotland throughout 2019 and 2020.

Applications for the £1m fund opened on 24 July 2019 with a deadline of 14 October 2019.

Creative Scotland is seeking five external panel members to work alongside Creative Scotland staff to decide the successful applications. Panel members will be expected to hold credible professional knowledge and expertise of the Theatre and Dance Touring sector in Scotland, either from a programming perspective or as a maker/producer of touring work.

Applications should be submitted before 12 noon, 13 September 2019 through the Scottish Government e-Tendering System, Public Contracts Scotland. Find out more at creativescotland.com/who-we-are/our-jobs/panel-members-touring-fund.

Joan Parr, Interim Director, Arts and Engagement, Creative Scotland commented: “Working alongside the expertise of our specialist staff with extensive knowledge of Scotland’s theatre and dance sectors this opportunity will ensure a broad range of perspectives will inform the next round of funding decisions. From modern adaptations of classic works to new autobiographical pieces, the fund has already supported a great selection of theatre and dance works to tour across the country.”

Notes to Editors

The Touring Fund for Theatre and Dance was developed in consultation with members of the touring Theatre and Dance sector, in collaboration with the Federation of Scottish Theatre, and is a response to the recommendations of the Review of Theatre and Dance Touring in Scotland published in April 2017.

The fund is open to Scotland-based dance and theatre artists, companies and organisations, independent dance and theatre producers and venues, for the making and touring of new work or the restaging of previous work for touring across Scotland.

The previous round of funding supported Skye Loneragan’s new solo show Though This Be Madness which will tour across Scotland from May 2020 and Jordan & Skinner’s Time Machine: A Radical Feminist Retelling from the End of the World which will premier in May 2020 ahead of its debut Scottish tour, amongst others. Full information about projects currently in receipt of support through the Touring Theatre and Dance Fund can be found here (June 2019) and here (Dec 2018).
