Back for the third year running and returning to the glorious setting of Barras Art & Design Centre on Thursday 14 November, this year’s event has a noticeable focus on collaboration, creativity, accessibility, development and artist inclusion. The newly announced panels will discuss huge pressing music industry issues and topics ranging from creativity, international success, education, income opportunities, career development, collaboration and more.

Robert Kilpatrick of the SMIA said: “RESONATE has quickly but firmly established itself as a not-to-miss event for anyone working in – or wanting to work in – music in Scotland. Whether you’ve worked in music for years or you’re just starting out, RESONATE has value for all who attend; not least in the fact that the event provides an incredible networking opportunity that compliments a wide range of engaging and highly relevant panels and workshops. The SMIA is delighted to again partner with the event as it enters its third year. We’re very much looking forward to what will be an incredibly valuable, insightful and inspiring day for all.”

Jamie Houston of Creative Scotland, who will be speaking on the 'Meet the Support Organisations' Drop-In Session, said: “Now in its third year, RESONATE has become an important fixture in the Scottish music calendar, and a valuable platform for networking and learning within the industry. We are pleased to support 23rd Precinct in offering Scotland’s vibrant music sector this opportunity for global collaboration and engagement with key industry representatives, to strengthen Scotland’s music scene.”

Among many of the impressive panels and workshops available to attendees, Dame Evelyn Glennie will sit on the ‘Let the creators….create’ panel in the stunning BAaD Courtyard which will give the audience an exceptionally unique opportunity to hear first-hand from some of Scotland’s most celebrated and inspiring musicians. More used to performing worldwide with the greatest orchestras, conductors and artists, the double GRAMMY winner and BAFTA nominee will discuss on topics like being creative, overcoming obstacles, mentorship, wellbeing, developing relationships, sustainability, reinvention and maximising your income streams.

RESONATE will also offer attendees the incredible opportunity to meet the team behind MI·MU, and see their highly unique product in action. MI·MU is a team of artists, technologists and designers developing cutting-edge wearable technology for the performance and composition of music. Founded by Grammy award-winning musician Imogen Heap, MI·MU have captured worldwide attention by showing that there is a better way to make music than with sliders and buttons – through the complex movement of the human body.

In this unmissable session in Many Studios, MI.MU's Adam Stark will give an overview of their highly innovative technology and their famous MI·MU gloves, how they work and how artists are using them in different ways across the world. The session will also include a live demonstration of the gloves.

Elsewhere, music producers and musicians are invited to join Jake Manley, Void’s UK Sales Account Manager, to hear their own tracks played for a 30-minute session during workshops held at RESONATE Music Conference.

‘Void Acoustics – From The Studio to Sound System’ will be an ideal opportunity for artists to explore how their tracks sound when played on a premium Void club system. Founded in 2002, Void is known globally for sonic and visual innovation, designing, manufacturing and distributing advanced professional audio systems for both the installed and live sound market sectors. Void’s commitment to R&D is second to none, with highly skilled, experienced engineers successfully combining pioneering technologies with groundbreaking design aesthetics. Void’s famous sound systems can be found in Drake’s Pick6ix in Toronto and leading festivals across the globe.

The Mezzanine, overlooking the stunning BAaD courtyard will host a number of insightful sessions such as ‘In Conversation with ‘The Album.’ Featuring input from new media sponsor DIY’s Rupert Vereker, SMIA’s Robert Kilpatrick and Scottish artist, Stina Tweeddale from Honeyblood. The session will be a chance to discuss the evolution of the album, its concept, importance and relevance in today’s industry with delegates being welcomed to express their own experiences as artists, music consumers or anything in between.

After the success of the last two years, RESONATE’s highly popular Drop-In Sessions will return in 2019, giving delegates the unique opportunity to get up close and personal with some hugely experienced industry professionals. Securing an agent is a massive turning point for any aspiring artist, and delegates will get the amazing chance to ‘Meet the Agents’ at this year’s event and seek advice from those who have years of experience in the UK live sector. Located less than two minutes away from the central hub of BAaD and a stone’s throw from Many Studios, the new space will feature a variety of workshops and an opportunity for delegates to conduct meetings. The intimate sessions will be covering topics such as ‘Routes To Festival Stages’ and ‘Money, Money with Help Musicians Scotland.’

The event is also proud to announce that they have pledged to PRS Foundation’s Keychange Programme which aims to achieve a 50:50 gender balance across festivals and conference programmes by 2020.

RESONATE has joined forces with new music media platform DIY for their 2019 event, the UK’s largest free media platform dedicated to music and - more importantly - supporting emerging artists as a music discovery brand. Music distribution service EmuBands will also join this year as sponsors.
