Independent Venue Week 2019 kicks off with Scottish shows

Published: 29 Jan 2019

Independent Venue Week is a seven-day celebration of small music venues around the country and a nod to the people that own, run and work in them, week in, week out.

The project, which is staged nationally and retains a strong local focus, will see venues from across the whole country hosting special shows throughout the week.

The event is now a firm fixture on the UK’s music calendar supporting the grass roots venues that are the backbone of our local communities and  giving tens of thousands of fans and hundreds of artists their first taste of live music each year.

Alan Morrison, Head Of Music, Creative Scotland: "The buzz of seeing a fantastic live band at close quarters is something that every music fan will cherish for years to come. Creative Scotland is delighted to partner again with Independent Venue Week, extending the reach of this vibrant campaign further across the country. Our grassroots venues are at the heart of our music scene and there`s no better way of celebrating the work they do, week in week out, than to get down the front and join the action."
