We are publishing online today Creative Scotland’s Draft Film Strategy 2014-17 for public feedback.

This document is an important step in shaping the ambitions and priorities that will form the backbone of the Film Strategy, the final version of which will be published at the end of September 2014.

Drawing on the findings from the Film Sector Review and from the wide range of feedback and ideas that we have received through discussions with people working in the screen sector, this draft Film Strategy aims to provide a clear and action-led plan for film in Scotland, set in the context of the ambitions laid out in our recently published 10-year Strategic Plan: Unlocking Potential, Embracing Ambition.

We are very keen to gather feedback from as many people as possible. This will help us finalise the Film Strategy, taking into account the thoughts and opinions of those we are here to support.

We are interested in what people think of this draft Film Strategy and if it resonates with people working in, or interested in film in Scotland.

The consultation will remain open until 5pm on Thursday 31 July 2014.

Natalie Usher, Director of Film and Media, Creative Scotland, said:

“We are committed to an open and informed development of this Film Strategy.

“We want everyone to have an opportunity to contribute to the final version, in the spirit of shared ownership and shared responsibility for a successful future for film in Scotland.

“We have already consulted with many people working across the film sector including the Film Reference Group, Independent Producers Scotland (IPS), our sector partners and through our Open Sessions.

“This online consultation provides another opportunity for feedback to help us shape the final Film Strategy that will be published in September.

“I hope as many people as possible take this opportunity and I look forward to hearing what people have to say.”
