Screen Equalities, Diversity and Inclusion Survey Findings

As part of the Screen Equalities, Diversity and Inclusion Review, this wide-ranging survey has gathered practitioners’ experiences and views on perceived barriers to participation and progression in the Sector.

Over 500 individuals working in film and TV in Scotland responded to the online survey with economic limitations and gender cited as key perceived barriers to participation and progression.

Parental responsibility was cited as a key issue for gender equality, with 84% of females saying it was a barrier compared to 48% of males. 

Economic barriers and social mobility feature highly as perceived barriers. 55% said economic limitations were a barrier, with 37% citing cost of training, 24% staff structures and 17% socio-economic background.
