Scottish Film Talent Network

Supported by National Lottery funding through Creative Scotland and BFI NETWORK, the Scottish Film Talent Network supports new and emerging filmmaking talent across Scotland.

There are currently four strands of support available through the Network:

Scottish Shorts

Scottish Shorts is a short film development and production initiative, for NEW Scottish writers, directors and producers. Open to those who have some experience in self-funded short filmmaking, but have not before had film industry backing for their work.

Emerging Talent Shorts

Emerging Talent Shorts are for filmmakers who have made industry or publicly funded short films already. This fund will support further short film production funding, and will be available to emerging Scottish talent who wish to use short film to further develop and enhance their voices, and who are able to demonstrate a strategic approach towards the progression of their practice.

First Feature Development

First Feature Development funding will support emerging talent to develop their first feature project and will support filmmakers to identify the best routes, activities or funding that are available to them. Support will be tailored to the specific needs of each project, and can include areas such as writers’ fees; story editing; script development; mentoring, or other professional development. Eligible filmmakers will have made funded work that has had positive attention from the industry and/or public, but not yet made their first feature film.

Talent Programme Bursary

The Talent Programme Bursary is designed to support writers, directors and producers to attend development programmes and talent labs at a number of international film festivals.
