Leaning into the Wind – Andy Goldsworthy

Still from Leaning into the Wind

Director: Thomas Riedelsheimer

Producers: Leslie Hills and Stefan Tolz

Leaning into the Wind is director Thomas Riedelsheimer’s second documentary on renowned artist Andy Goldsworthy, following 2002’s highly acclaimed Rivers and Tides. The film is a vibrant journey through the diverse layers of Goldsworthy's world. From urban Edinburgh and London to the South of France and New England, each environment he encounters becomes a fresh kaleidoscopic canvas for his art. A lushly-visualized travelogue, Goldsworthy's work and Riedelsheimer's exquisite cinematography redefine landscape and inextricably tie human life to the natural world.

Andy Goldsworthy is a sculptor and photographer, best known for his land art. His installations have appeared at Washington DC’s National Gallery of Art, the M.H de Young Memorial Museum and the National Museum of Scotland. He lives and works in Scotland.

Leaning into the Wind premiered at the highly-selective Launch section of the San Francisco International Film Festival 2017, and has its European premiere at Munich's DOK.Fest where it screens in competition in the DOK.International section.

The film is distributed in the US by Magnolia Pictures, in Canada by Filmswelike, in France by Eurozoom and in Germany by Piffl. International Sales are by Mongrel International, Toronto.
