It's been quite a year for Clackmannanshire singer-songwriter Morgan Woods, AKA Emme Woods. Following a string of showcases, including Wide Days and The Great Escape, Emme is now launching her first EP and film. We caught up with her to hear how it's all coming together.

Watch the full video interview here:

Scottish music convention Wide Days offered the band their first showcase in April. "It was so fabulous to get asked," says Emme, "A&R people are coming up to it, people from London, from Europe, just for this event. We met some incredible people, some great contacts that I've kept in touch with."

It was so fabulous to get asked to Wide Days. It was the first recognition of a proper band, a proper set up.- Emme Woods

"The Wide Days connection is an important one," says Alan Morrison, our Head of Music. "Be Charlotte and The Van T’s played the Edinburgh-based music convention in 2016 before playing The Great Escape in 2017, and Emme Woods was fast-tracked to Brighton for this year's event."

The Great Escape took place in Brighton in May, with the band playing three showcases, including the Creative Scotland Showcase. Emme describes the experience: "We got asked to go down to The Great Escape. By the end of it, after three shows and all the running about, all the meeting and chatting to people, I was bringing the last bit of voice from the soles of my feet! The whole thing was absolutely insane".

"This is one of Europe’s leading festivals of new and emerging music," explains Alan, "and it’s a fantastic opportunity to present Scotland’s best up-and-coming acts to key figures in the UK and international industry – the bookers, agents, managers, labels and programmers who can take a young band’s career up to the next level. A clear route is emerging whereby Creative Scotland can help progress bands from a domestic showcase to a major national event that then, hopefully, opens doors to the rest of the world"

Emme Woods has now launched her first EP on Pledge Music. Preorders are open now and fans can pick up some very unique perks including having the band play at their house, cook for them, or even joining them for paddle-boarding on Loch Lomond. It's an approach which Emme hopes will generate lots of interest and support.

Here's hoping it's the perfect end to a busy year!

Influenced by Brian Wilson, Jeff Buckley and Stevie Nicks, Emme Woods' new bluesy style offers up grungy guitars, sultry swagger and raw, grainy vocals. She previously performed under the guise of Something, Someone - a folky, rootsy and acoustic style that won her several plaudits and fans. Emme’s music has featured in BBC TV productions and on the soundtrack for the film ‘The Space Between’ produced by Amy Jo Johnson. She has also been named Artist Of The Week in the Scotland On Sunday.
