Open Fund for Individuals

How might I consider intellectual assets and intellectual property (including Digital IP)?

If your project or activity includes creating new work (especially digital content), then you should be clear in your application about plans for how intellectual assets and intellectual property (IP) will be managed. The latter relates to formal ownership (like patents, trademarks, copyrights and designs) and whereas assets extend beyond formal IP. Your project may well produce some of both. Plans should consider which project elements are assets that could be used in other ways after the project. (An asset could be a story, a character, music, graphic elements, software, a methodology or a whole range of other things.) An (...)Read more

How far in advance can I submit my application?

We do not have an upper limit for how far in advance you can apply for a project, and we appreciate that different projects will require different periods of planning. We do, however, have to take into account the timing of projects when making our decisions. For example, if the decision-making panel is considering an application for a project that has been submitted very far in advance, without clear rationale for this, then they might prioritise another project that was taking place sooner. In general, we would normally expect applications to be submitted in time to allow one to six (...)Read more

Can I reapply if my first application is unsuccessful?

Yes- you can reapply for the same project once. We strongly recommend that you read and consider the feedback you have been given, including reading the assessment of your first application, which you can access through your online account. When you make your reapplication we will ask you how you have addressed the feedback from your original application, and if you have made any other significant changes to your project. Your reapplication will be assessed in the same way as all other applications, and cannot be fast-tracked. If you are unsuccessful a second time, you cannot apply to the Open (...)Read more
