No; you do not need to print your work for submission to publishing houses and we cannot support cost of production of dummies. Minimal dummy costs for paper engineers or interactive book makers may be eligible if the project meets the other criteria for the Open Fund for Individuals: we recommend you discuss your plans with a member of the Literature Team ahead of making an application, to check eligibility, and that any trialling proposed complies with relevant legislation. In 2019, we conducted an in-depth funding review, which provided us with a great many insights on what the sector needed from us. We took time to consider the feedback from individuals on how they would like their relationship with us to be, and we talked to colleagues within Creative Scotland to consider how we might make changes to our funding approach, whilst still collecting all the information we need to make fair decisions. Yes, so long as your plans also meet the other criteria for this fund outlined in the Guidance for Applicants. The writers we have previously supported to develop through the Open Fund include those experimenting with poetry, graphic creative non-fiction and graphic fiction, hybrid works of prose and poetry, fiction and creative non-fiction: for adults and for children.
