Equalities, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Advisory Group

Following an open recruitment process, an independent group of thirteen individuals were appointed to Creative Scotland’s Equalities, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Advisory Group.

Following an open recruitment process, an independent group of thirteen individuals were appointed to Creative Scotland’s Equalities, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Advisory Group for a period of three years from February 2024, to help guide Creative Scotland’s work in this area.

Returning from the first iteration of the EDI Advisory Group are: Cate Ross, Lewis Hou and Ashe Hussein. Newly appointed members include: Adele Patrick, Amadu Khan, Annie George, Claricia Parinussa, Jen Hunter, Khaleda Noon, Milo Clenshaw, Sorcha Pringle and Magdalena Schamberger.

Meet the group members

Milo Clenshaw

Milo Clenshaw is an art worker, curator and writer based in Hawick in the Scottish Borders. In 2021 he graduated from the University of Glasgow with a Masters in Film Curation. He currently works as the Producer for Alchemy Film & Arts alongside his various freelance projects. His first novel Murray Hall, charting the little-known story of a key figure in Scotland's trans history, was released in April 2025 by Black & White. Milo believes that embedding accessibility across all areas of the arts is a crucial project, and that creativity and access go hand in hand.

Annie George

Annie George is a writer and theatre maker based in East Lothian. She has worked in Scottish theatre for over thirty years, with numerous artists and organisations such as National Theatre of Scotland, Magnetic North and Playwrights' Studio Scotland. Annie was awarded the Scottish Book Trust’s Ignite Fellowship in 2019, the Inspiring Scotland Bursary (Saltire Society/Scottish Book Trust 2016); and a Real To Reel Award (2004) for her short film Curry and Irn-Bru.

Lewis Hou

Lewis Hou, a member of the first EDI Advisory Group, is Founder and Director of Science Ceilidh and is an advocate for cultural and knowledge democracy. He coordinates the Culture and Wellbeing Community Network Scotland along with the Ideas Fund and Community Knowledge Matters network, supporting community-led research around mental wellbeing in the Highlands and Islands. He is currently most interested in how we can change systems and funding to be more equitable and participatory in enabling historically excluded groups to lead.

Jennifer Hunter

Jennifer Hunter is a freelance researcher, policy and public affairs consultant working mainly within the culture sector. Jennifer led the Culture Counts project from 2017 to 2022 and established the Scottish Parliament Cross Party Group for the Creative Economy and CPG Culture and Communities. Jennifer was a member of The Scottish Governments’ Measuring Change group from 2019 to 2022, which was set up to make recommendations on how to measure the impact of the Culture Strategy for Scotland. Jennifer is interested in how the sector can make practical changes to deliver Fair Work priorities for the self-employed, and to consider how to remove barriers for people with specific physical requirements in accessing live events.

Ashe Hussain

Ashe Hussain was a member of the first Creative Scotland EDI Advisory Group. She has a background in film and television, with expertise in business development for production companies, diversity, talent development, and training. She is currently the Business Development Manager for FOCUS at Film City Futures, where she provides support to foster the growth of independent production companies based in Scotland.

Ashe began her media career as a producer at BBC Scotland and has since worked with a variety of screen organisations across both the public and private sectors,  as well as screen agencies and other broadcasters. She has managed several training and mentoring courses supported and/or funded by Creative Scotland, Independent Producers Scotland, Creative Skillset (now ScreenSkills), and Skills Development Scotland.

In addition to addressing EDI issues in the sector through training initiatives, Ashe has participated in discussion panels and advisory groups focused on increasing diverse talent and content, both on- and off-screen. 

She served on several advisory groups, committees, and jury panels for the creative industries. Beyond that, she has contributed to the Children’s Panel and served as a mentor for Mosaic (a joint initiative between BITC and The Prince's Trust). She is currently a member of the Ofcom Advisory Committee, Scotland.

Amadu Wurie Khan (PhD)

Amadu Wurie Khan (PhD) is Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Officer at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. He is a refugee-background activist, educator, journalist and creative, and occasionally undertakes visiting artist, lecturer, trainer, consultant and public speaking roles on EDI and decoloniality in performing and production arts education, culture and creativity, social policy, international development and climate/environmental justice.

His current creative research and practice is exploring how folklore and oral tradition constitute communities’ responses to, and social action on, climate change and environmental justice. Amadu also employs storytelling for research, knowledge exchange and engagement, and for campaigning, advocacy and activism with and among civil society, mainstream service provision and disadvantaged grassroots communities in Scotland and Africa.

Khaleda Noon

Khaleda Noon is a visionary antiracist leader, strategist, and founder with over two decades of experience driving systemic change through advocacy, innovation, and lived experience. As the Founder and Creative Director of Theatre of the Oppressed Scotland, (TOScot) she has led transformative initiatives that directly confront structural injustice across education, mental health, employment, and the arts.

Her work is grounded in lifelong antiracist practice and unlearning, shaped by her own lived experience of growing up in Scotland as a care-experienced woman of colour. This intersectional perspective informs her leadership and underpins her unwavering commitment to equity, justice, and systemic transformation.

Adele Patrick

Adele Patrick has been developing innovative cultural projects rooted in equalities and in academic research and community learning and teaching for over 30 years. Adele co-founded Glasgow Women’s Library (GWL) in 1991 and is currently a Co-Director. Trained as a designer at Glasgow School of Art (where she subsequently taught Gender, Art and Culture) Adele has been active in many projects as a curator, programmer, co-producer at GWL and has an independent practice as a facilitator, writer, coach, and trainer focussing on values led leadership. She currently sits on the Board of V&A Dundee.

nusa C Parinussa

nusa C Parinussa is a freelance independent artist, producer and community organiser in Scotland. They are the Founding Director of ID.Y CIC, an independent arts support project led by queer, trans, Black, Indigenous people and people of colour (QTBIPOC) in the arts. Since 2018, ID.Y has sought to interrogate arts working systems in Scotland, learn from existing generations and co-create active anti-racism practices in and specific to Scotland's arts sector. nusa has co-led this work with visual artist, independent history researcher and public health data analyst Adebusola Ramsay since 2022.

Sorcha Pringle

Sorcha Pringle is a disabled independent creative freelancer. She is a member of both the YMCA care-experienced advisory panel, helping to set up creative tech learning hubs for care experienced young people, and the Moniack Mhor creativity in care steering group, distributing funds to care experienced young people. She has sat on the board of We Are Unlimited and is a board member of Creative Dundee.

Cate Ross

Cate Ross is a professional multi-disciplinary artist; a master printmaker, physical theatre and dance trapeze performer, costume maker, exhibiting visual artist, arts educator and creative participatory research specialist who has been self-employed for 30 years. Cate specialises in socially-applied creative practices designed for and with people who face barriers to participation due to their neuro-diversity, multiple profound disabilities or other marginalising characteristics. Her work is developed from her lived experiences of being an Autistic woman with life-long hidden disabilities.

Magdalena Schamberger

Magdalena Schamberger is an independent theatre director, teacher and consultant, with an expertise and passion for collaborating creatively with people living with dementia to devise accessible performances in theatres, care homes and other settings. She is currently in the process of developing her third dementia responsive performance project.

Magdalena was Founding Creative Director at bold (Bringing Out Leaders in Dementia) and regularly facilitates collaborations with people with lived experience of dementia in a variety of settings. She is Co-Founder and former Artistic Director of Hearts & Minds, where she created the renowned Elderflowers programme. Magdalena is passionate about helping to amplify the voices of people living with dementia within arts contexts.
