Karen has taken on lead responsibility for the delivery of the actions in Creative Scotland’s Climate Emergency and Sustainability Plan. Tackling the climate emergency is a strategic priority and by working collaboratively with staff, Creative Carbon Scotland, the Sustainability Manager for the Scottish screen sector and with the arts, screen and creative industries in Scotland, we aim to collectively deliver the mitigation and adaptation aims set out in the Plan.
Karen has joined us on secondment from Architecture and Design Scotland and her post as Principal Adaptation Planner on the Place Based Investment Team. Acting on the climate emergency has been the motivation for her working practice for over 15 years. It began at university when working on volunteer project for local charities and self-build groups and has continued though her time working in architectural practice, with a national contractor, active travel charity and at A&DS. She has been a Board member with Creative Carbon Scotland and A Place in Childhood, and remains an Innovation Champion at BE-ST and a Design Council Expert.
