Creative Scotland response to Holyrood's Culture Committee

Published: 15 Jun 2018

Robert Wilson, Chair of Creative Scotland, has responded to the Scottish Parliament's Culture, Tourism, Europe and External Relations Committee's letter of 14 June 2018.

Mr Wilson's letter sets out Creative Scotland's initial response to the committee, and undertakes to reply in full by the committee's deadline of 31 August 2018.

In it, he says: “We respect the investment of time and thought that individuals and organisations have put into their submissions to the Committee.  As recently appointed Chair of Creative Scotland, I fully recognise that there needs to be full trust and confidence in our organisation.

"We take all feedback very seriously and we have commissioned an independent review of the last Regular Funding round which, in turn, will help shape a broader review of our overall approach to funding for the future.

"We are also conducting an organisational review which will look at Creative Scotland’s culture and working practices, values, structure and operations.

“However, we should not lose sight of the fact that we continue to support excellent creative work across all parts of Scotland and internationally through all our routes to funding. We have an extremely dedicated, passionate, and knowledgeable Staff team who remain committed to delivering vital support for artists, creative people and organisations across Scotland."
