Draft Budget 2017/18 Update

Published: 20 Dec 2016

The Board of Creative Scotland met yesterday (19 December) to consider Creative Scotland’s outline 2017/18 budget in the context of the recent Scottish Government’s announcement of its Draft Budget for next year.

We are pleased to say that, as our Discretionary Grant in Aid Budget for 2017/18 is planned to remain broadly the same at £32,112,000, subject to the final Scottish Government Budget being approved, we will be able to support the 118 Regularly Funded Organisations in 2017/18. We also plan to fund five sector development organisations (Arts & Business, Cultural Enterprise Office, Culture Republic, Creative Carbon Scotland, and the Federation of Scottish Theatre).

Creative Scotland’s full budget for 2017/18 will be published by March 2017 as part of our 2017/18 Annual Plan. This will follow publication of the Scottish Government’s final budget, in February 2017.

Overall demand for our funding continues to be high and, as such, we will take every opportunity to continue to advocate for the value that the arts, screen and creative industries deliver across public life, and to get the message across that creativity matters.
