Education and Culture Committee Response

Published: 31 Aug 2015

The Education & Culture Committee at the Scottish Parliament are undertaking an inquiry into "Public Bodies, Spending Decisions and Outcomes" (link to Scottish Parliament website).

Creative Scotland welcomes this inquiry as a further, valuable contribution to continued efforts to help deliver, not just economic sustainability in the arts, screen and creative industries in Scotland, but also the ability to support these sectors to thrive and grow and continue to produce work of artistic and creative excellence that is recognised and valued at home and abroad.

It has also provided an opportunity to summarise the work that we have been doing and continue to do to support artists and creative organisations, to share evidence of the impact of that work and to underline the fact that creativity matters – delivering real value to the lives of the people of Scotland.

As part of this inquiry, there was an open call for submissions in response to a series of questions set by the Committee. Ahead of appearing before the Committee on 15 September, we have also prepared a written submission which you can download below. We look forward to hearing the outcomes and recommendations from the Committee.
