Equalities in Creative Scotland

44 Stories by Drew Taylor (Image: James Wilson)

Creative Scotland's Equalities, Diversity and Inclusion Report indicates the progress we are making to mainstream equalities and deliver our Equality Outcomes to 2017.

This report is a statutory requirement of the Equality Act 2010. The ‘general duty’ of the Equality Act requires public authorities, including Creative Scotland, in the exercise of their functions, to have due regard to the need to:

  • Eliminate unlawful discrimination, harassment and victimisation and other conduct that is prohibited by the Equality Act 2010.
  • Advance equality of opportunity between people who share a relevant protected characteristic and those who do not.
  • Foster good relations between people who share a protected characteristic and those who do not.

We do not underestimate the influence the arts, screen and creative industries can have in delivering these duties, transforming and improving people’s lives, through imagination, ambition and an understanding of the potential of creativity.

Equalities and Diversity is also one of our four connecting themes, alongside creative learning, digital and environment.
