Applying For Investment
We'd like to hear what you think of the changes to our investment section at investmentfeedback@creativescotland.com.
Our funds are currently divided according to activity rather than art form, so what you apply to will depend on the type of activity you wish to undertake. You also have to consider if your project is at the appropriate stage of development for application. You will find these details (eg whether to come to us fresh or with ideas fully formed) in the guidelines for each programme under our Investment Portfolio.
The process for application would be for you to identify the scheme that may be appropriate, then to fully appraise yourself of its criteria and requirements by reading through the guidelines for that Investment Programme and Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs). Then you can either make an application, or if you have specific queries around your application and the investment route, speak to one of our officers at an Open Line or Drop In surgery.
Our investments take up to 12 weeks to assess. We cannot fund students in full time education or amateur organisations. For more information on whether you are eligible to apply, please read our criteria for individuals and organisations.
Submitting an Application
Please familiarise yourself with the details of the programme you wish to apply to.
You also need to check that:
- your application meets our minimum requirements
- supporting material is submitted in the correct format
- you understand and accept our terms and conditions
If you are unable to use our electronic submission process, we will work with you to find other ways for you to apply and that are more suited to your specific needs. On request, all Investment Programme information is available in a range of accessible formats. Support is available for disabled applicants. Please call our Enquiries service on 0845 603 6000 for advice, or email enquiries@creativescotland.com.
Applicants can have more than one application under consideration at anytime, however, applicants are asked to provide details of the pending submission(s) within of the Application Form.
NOTE: Creative Scotland’s financial year runs from 1 April to 31 March.
Unlike the other Investment Programmes we ask that before making an application to Film & Broadcasting you contact a Creative Scotland Officer. Details of how to do this are in the programme guidelines.
Within 10 working days of receipt of email application or enquiry you will receive a personalised response (via email) giving you the name and contact details of a Lead Officer dealing with your enquiry or application.
This response could also provide:
- An answer to your enquiry
- A decision on your application
- A request for additional information or a meeting
- An explanation of the next stage of the process
- You will be kept fully informed about the progress of your enquiry or application
You will be given indicative timescales as to when each stage will be completed and a final response or decision provided. Note that requesting a meeting or asking for additional information does not indicate that we will invest in your project.
Submission
On submission you will receive an electronic notification of receipt.
We will review your application and if it is eligible, we will log it on to our system.
If you have failed to comply with any of the points detailed in the Minimum Requirements for Investment your application will be deemed ineligible. You will be notified of this decision and the reasons why by email.
Decision Making Process
Applications will be assessed by Development Officers from Creative Scotland.
Occasionally we may submit your application to an external assessor for review.
For applications up to £100,000 Officers will make a recommendation to the appropriate Director of Creative Development. For applications over £100,000 decisions will be agreed by the Senior Management Team.
Creative Scotland reserves the right to prioritise investment to those who may not have benefited in the past.
Our Decision
You will receive email notification of our decision no later than 12 weeks after your submission, unless there is a deadline and you will then receive a decision 12 weeks from the deadline date.
If Your Application Has Been Unsuccessful
The decisions we make are final but if you are not satisfied with the way we have handled your investment application you can write or phone us to tell us why you are unhappy. We will discuss your concerns with you and treat all comments you make seriously. Please contact us on 0845 603 6000.
