Scottish Documentary Institute – Docscene

Still from Maja Borg's Future My Love

Docscene is a development programme for documentary talent, ideas and projects supporting documentary filmmakers in Scotland and promoting Scotland as an international creative documentary hub.

Among the activities supported are:

Bridging the Gap
The initiative aims to bridge the gap between training/graduation and a first commission by Scottish-based filmmakers – offering a series of training workshops and ongoing support throughout the development, the production and the distribution of four 10' short documentaries.

This is Scotland
This is Scotland is a new talent initiative, offering Scottish based filmmakers a unique opportunity to work with SDI Productions, resulting in two 30-minute creative documentaries that will screen at peak time on STV.

Interdoc Scotland
Interdoc Scotland helps emerging producers (with a feature documentary in development or production) to test ideas and storytelling approaches, strategise their finance plans, enhance their knowledge of national and international markets, hone their trailers, and increase their chances of successfully funding their documentaries.

The Edinburgh Pitch
Running alongside the Edinburgh International Film Festival, The Edinburgh Pitch allows selected participants take part in a one-day preparatory workshop before a formal public pitch, followed by one-to-one meetings with decision makers the next day.

Consultancies
The Scottish Documentary Institute offers year-round submissions of Scottish documentary projects in development (shorts and features) to theior Docscene project pool.
