The 32nd annual Shetland Folk Festival takes place from the 3 – 6 May, offering a programme of over 60 acts performing at venues across the island throughout the weekend.

Following in the footsteps of Elvis Costello, Rolf Harris and Eddie Reader this year’s festival features a headline performance from fast rising Glasgow folk quintet Admiral Fallow (3 May) as well as performances from the award winning duo Tim Edey & Brendan Power - who were named Best Duo at the 2012 Radio 2 Folk Awards. You can watch the video for Admiral Fallow's new the single below.

Former Radio 2 Young Folk Award winners, Jeana Leslie & Siobhan Miller, will bring their beautiful vocal arrangements to the island where they will perform alongside top international acts such as Baltic Crossing, Ross Couper & Tim Oakes and Kasai Masai.

As in previous years, local musicians are integral to the event and this year festival goers will be treated to music from the likes of: the Heritage Fiddlers; new local favourites Väir; the Cullivoe Fiddlers; and well loved stalwarts of the Sheltand folk scene Hom Bru.

Also, as part of the opening night, veteran broadcaster and folk singer Jimmie Macgregor will present a one-off illustrated talk and performance describing his part in the folk music revival, featuring stories about his travels and the people he has met along the way.
