The main festival runs from the 16 – 26 Feb and includes screenings of Irvine Welsh’s Ecstasy, The Decoy Bride - a romantic comedy starring David Tennant and Kelly Macdonald - and the highly acclaimed animated feature Wrinkles, adapted from Paco Roca’s graphic novel of the same name.
'The guiding philosophy at Glasgow has always been to showcase the very best of world cinema without any prejudice or snobbery,' says Glasgow Film Festival co-director Allan Hunter. 'This year's programme is a rich and diverse selection of prize-winners and premieres from around the globe and around the corner. We bring the best films we can to Glasgow and provide a platform for the finest Scottish films to engage the world.'
New for 2012 is the addition of Crossing the Line – a strand of the Festival exploring the cross over between cinema and visual art - which features a new commission from 2011 Magaret Tait Award winner: Anne-Marie Copestake.
Other highlights to look out for in include; the Scottish documentaries No One But Me and Big Banana Feet; a Gene Kelly retrospective to celebrate the centenary of his birth; a documentary on the Tetris World Championship; and entire strands dedicated to new German cinema and all things superhero.
This year, there are also four mini festivals incorporated into the programme.
The Music & Film Festival (16 – 26 Feb) continues its tradition of blending experimental music and film, Frightfest (24 – 25 Feb) is back for its 7th year with a selection of some of the best fright films currently on offer, and the Short Film Festival (9 – 12 Feb) features over 150 films across four days.
And finally the Youth Film Festival (5 – 15 Feb) returns with a programme devised entirely by teenagers, offering young people access to the latest releases as well as opportunities to learn from industry professionals.

Glasgow Film Festival (GFF) receives investment from Creative Scotland and is supported by Glasgow City Marketing Bureau, Event Scotland and Glasgow City Council.
The Margaret Tait Award is supported by Creative Scotland in partnership with LUX, and recognises artists who are experimental, innovative and within film and the moving image. The winner receives £10,000 and the opportunity to present a new commission at GFF.
