Winner: St Andrews
The town has several established arts organisations and events which are spread throughout the year, including the Byre Theatre; Fife Contemporary Art & Crafts; a number of commercial galleries; StAnza Poetry Festival; Inside Out Street Theatre Festival; East Neuk Festival; a programme of concerts at the University of St Andrews; Fife Jazz Festival; Kaleidoscope Festival; St Andrews Voices; and the St Andrews Festival. In addition to the regular programmes, in 2012 the town will be hosting a St Andrews Year of Celebration. Significant events that will form part of this include the University of St Andrews 600th anniversary (including the World Saxophone Congress) and the Olympic torch relay.
The award will allow St Andrews to promote its already rich cultural programme to the UK and international visitors and to support a new community musical theatre production as the year’s centre piece production.

Irvine Harbourside
The celebrated Harbour Arts Centre, WASPs Courtyard Studios, community art works and the Scottish Maritime Museum are all located in Irvine’s Harbourside. These organisations, the local Burns Club and the Irvine Watersports Club, as well as local businesses, were all partners in the Creative Place Awards application.
Perth
Perth’s established cultural organisations and events include: Horsecross Arts Ltd; Perth Concert Hall; Perth Museum & Art Gallery; Perth Festival of the Arts; and the Schubertiad and Southern Fried music festivals. Perth & Kinross Council also works in partnership with a number of organisations to deliver arts projects. The Council is currently working with the Gannochy Trust, Perthshire Heritage Trust and Royal Scottish Geographical Society on a heritage and arts project, ‘Living Communities’ which w ill work with 1800 pupils and professional artists to explore and respond to the idea of local identity.
