Anita Clark | ||
Anita’s portfolio includes Festivals, Touring and Dance. Anita joins Creative Scotland after a successful career in Dance including positions as Head of Dance for the Scottish Arts Council, Artistic Director of Citymoves Dancespace in Aberdeen and Education Officer for Birmingham Royal Ballet. Anita’s background is as a dance artist and producer working extensively in community and learning environments. She is a graduate of London College of Dance and is currently studying for a MA in Arts in Social Contexts at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama. Caroline Docherty | ||
Caroline Docherty leads our development on local government, external partnerships and research. A graduate of Warwick University in English and American Literature, Caroline’s early interest in the arts was inspired by a formative experience as a member of Salisbury Playhouse youth theatre. After university, Caroline joined Contemporary Dance Trust in London where she managed its performance space, the Place Theatre. Caroline moved to Scotland to join Dundee Rep to work with the new community drama programme and contemporary dance company (now Scottish Dance Theatre). A period of freelance activity followed including working with dancer/choreographer Frank McConnell to establish Plan B. Scott Donaldson | ||
Scott’s portfolio includes Special Projects - Development. Scott joins Creative Scotland with a background in education, film, photography, and environmental science. He taught film, photography and media in colleges in London, and in universities in Scotland, took photos freelance for Scottish Natural Heritage, programmed cinema and education at macrobert, and, at Scottish Screen, promoted moving image education and media literacy, and screen education in colleges and universities. Joan Parr | ||
| Joan’s portfolio includes Education, Learning and Young People. Joan joins Creative Scotland after holding the position of Head of Education for the Scottish Arts Council for 5 years before which she was an Education Officer. She held previous positions in embassies in West Africa and the Middle East as well as a year in Mumbai and the Punjab. She has worked as education officer at the National Galleries of Scotland, was the first education officer at Edinburgh Castle and education officer for heritage, visual and performing arts at Falkirk Council. Morgan Petrie | ||
| Morgan’s portfolio includes Technology Digital Media and Market Development. Morgan was previously Head of Market Development at Scottish Screen, engaged in strategic programmes of investment to support the development of the digital media industries in Scotland. Prior to Scottish Screen Morgan was making documentaries for the education sector and has worked in web development, software marketing and consultancy for clients including Sony, Corel, Filemaker and Roxio. Ian Smith | ||
| Ian’s portfolio includes Music and IP Development. Ian joins Creative Scotland with a long history in the UK/international music industry. He was Head of Music at the Scottish Arts Council following 12 years as Scotland and Northern Ireland Organiser for the UK Musicians’ Union, where he founded the Folk, Roots & Traditional Music Section. For more than 25 years he was a professional musician working with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra (RSNO) as Co-Principal horn. He was the founder of Scottish Brass and served as a Governor of the RSAMD and as a member of the Executive Board of the Musicians’ Benevolent Fund. David Taylor | ||
| David’s portfolio includes leading on the development of 2012 as the year of creative Scotland, an action plan for the development of traditional arts, and responsibility for developing a new strategy for our Capital Investment Programme. David joins Creative Scotland after an extensive career in the theatre and cultural sector. He has held positions at the University of Warwick Arts Centre, Eden Court Theatre, Cumbernauld Theatre, Tron Theatre and a director and secretary for the Federation of Scottish Theatre. He served for 6 years as a member of the Scottish Arts Council (SAC) Combined Arts Committee prior to joining the SAC and holding various directorate positions in Arts, Performing Arts and Drama and Dance. | Gavin’s Portfolio includes Literature, Publishing and Language. Gavin joins Creative Scotland with a distinguished career in Scottish Literature and culture. He held the position of Head of Literature for the Scottish Arts Council for 8 years, before which he was Literature Officer. Previous positions have included teacher, lecturer, critic, journalist, editor, and broadcaster at home and abroad, and he was an Associate Lecturer in Literature and the Humanities at the Open University in Scotland from 1991-2001. Sambrooke previously worked as part of the Market Development department at Scottish Screen and managed the Audience Development Fund, working with a number of key venues and festivals to build and develop audiences for film. Prior to Scottish Screen Sambrooke worked in PR and marketing for a number of film and arts exhibition organisations including the Edinburgh International Film Festival, Momentum Pictures, New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, Atari and - where it all started - at the Cameo Cinema in Edinburgh. ![]() | Helena’s portfolio includes creative industries and skills. Helena joins Creative Scotland with a background in media, economic development, communications and fundraising. Before joining, Helena ran training programmes and events at TRC media in partnership with Channel 4, the BBC and development agencies for five years. Helena also managed the creative industries’ activity at Scottish Enterprise Glasgow for six years. Prior to this, she spent a couple of years in fundraising at Barnardo's Scotland. Helena started her career in account management in the advertising industry working in London at BSB Dorland and Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO, and then in Edinburgh at The Leith Agency and Faulds Advertising. Laura Mackenzie Stuart | ||
![]() | Laura’s portfolio includes: Theatre, Talent Development and Own Art. Laura has worked in business and financial administration of the arts since 1990. From 1990 – 1998 she was Deputy Director of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, the world’s largest arts festival. Particular areas of responsibility included co-ordinating the needs of over 700 companies coming from all over the world during each festival, managing the Festival Fringe Box-office and running the Sponsorship Department. Membership of the Society’s Management Committee for eight years provided a solid foundation for arts business management. Laura joined Universal Arts as Managing Director in 1998. As the year-round representative of professional touring companies in the UK and abroad, she formed close working relationships with key UK and international governmental organisations and worked with the producers of a number of shows which were launched during the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, taking them on to gain international recognition. Whilst at Universal Arts, Laura was instrumental in the inception of Associated Independent Venue Associates bringing together industry competitors to form a cohesive advocacy and campaigning organisation.
